Au premier plan, le lagon sur lequel on devine, à gauche, un long ponton. À l’arrière plan, en bordure du rivage, on distingue une clôture, une maison et de nombreux cocotiers. Sur la droite, le poste militaire et un mât au sommet duquel flotte le drapeau français. On aperçoit, au centre de l’image, les toitures de deux autres constructions, probablement l’école et le temple d’Uturoa, et dans le lointain, des montagnes. Sans doute Tahaa, l’île voisine. Les informations imprimées au recto indiquent que cette carte postale a été éditée avant le 16 mai 1904. En haut à gauche, des indications manuscrites ajoutées au crayon. N.B. : il existe une carte identique oblitérée en septembre 1903 et une autre portant la mention « A. Itchner, Huahine » oblitérée en 1904.
